Japanese culture, evolving over the years, is one of the richest Asian cultures. The Culture of Japan has its roots in the Jomon culture spanning from about 10,000 BC to 300 BC. The present hybrid culture of Japan owes its development to influences from Europe, North America and Asia. This is what makes Japan a home to people from all over the world.

The Culture of Japan with its impacts from all continents differs distinctively from other Asian cultures. To have a close look at the Culture of Japan various aspects of the lives of the Japanese people has to be considered. These include Japanese language, various forms of arts, music and dance in Japan, Japanese cuisine and architecture.

Language is considered to be one of the main features of any culture and so is the same for the Culture of Japan. Written in a combination of three different scripts such as the Kanji, Hiragana and Katakana the Japanese language is one of the oldest in Asia.
Arts, music and dance are the central theme of the Culture of Japan. One of the oldest form of art in Japan is painting done with a brush which is a traditional writing tool. Other from of art in Japan includes calligraphy which is known as Sumi-e in Japan, sculpture making which the Japanese have learnt from the Buddhist and Shinto traditions. Other traditional art form in Japan includes Ukiyo-e and Ikebana (art of Japanese flower arrangement).

One of the features that make the Culture of Japan distinct is its traditional dress, Kimono. These are straight-lined robes that fall to the ankles and have collars and wide full-length sleeves. The cuisine of Japan cannot be missed when we are talking about the Culture of Japan. Rice is the staple diet of the Japanese along with miso soup which is a specialty here. Seafood dishes such as sushi and sashimi are the internationally renowned Japanese dishes. With its fantastic blend of traditional and modern ethos the Japanese culture is truly a unique one.
